Jim,

Looks to be in nice condition. It is a 1915 DWM, The 1920 is a post WWI property stamp. It has an added sear safety used by the police.

Imperial German military issued Luger made in 1915 by DWM. Post WW1 it was property marked "1920" by the Weimar Republic authorities - military or police - to show that it was owned by the government. At some point it entered service with the police as evidenced by the sear safety. The aluminum base magazines are post war and a[ppear to have been scrubbed of their original serial numbers and numbered to match the pistol.

Any idea what this would bring in a sale? Where would I begin to sell it?

Jim,

Sell it here. Others with more knowledge about such things will weigh in, but I would say that, if the serial numbers all match (including grips, striker and all), a good starting point would be about $1500., maybe more.

The barrel at least is not original, shows signs of a refinish or later barrel.

I concur with Quintin's observation above. On closer look, the blued muzzle and overall glossy black also suggest a post-period refinish. This appears to be an Interarms import from the box, so probably import marked. All of this reduces value. But still a nice police Luger, with two police mags, maybe $1200.?

Welcome to the Luger Forum.
Thanks for sharing your luger.
You should enjoy finding out more about it.

You'll want to check out the FAQs and if you search for similar pistols, look for both "1915 DWM" and "police" Lugers here.

It started out as an Army P.08 in 1915, but after WW-1 is was converted to a Police luger.

I don't think the magazines ever belonged with it.
The under side of the barrel appears to have an importer stamp.

Welcome to the forum.

Being rebarrelled, refinished and reworked eliminates collector interest, and makes this a "shooter" Luger. That said, it is a very nice one.

The packaging would be consistent with a Russian capture and it is likely import marked. Is that the case?

Checking other numbered parts, it is otherwise all matching?

In today's marketplace, I'd expect this is closer to the $1400 mark...
