Thor...That is truly amazing! My first thought was, how did he do that? I don't expect an answer....
As a beginner, I am curious to know: What would the value be; before and after? Am I correct that the before was original condition? How is the after condition catagorized? In other words if it was presented for sale how would it be decribed?
I saw examples of your fine shooting skills, they made me do a double take!
Regards, Jack

Jackz, how did I do it? God blesses me and I use "old Chinese secret" Dont know what the client paid for it, but with no bluing left and that butt ugly hole it was not a hard decision to do it, Thanks for the comments on the shooting but Hugh and AGE can outshoot me any day of the week, the are the real aces at the target range. Heck, Lugers will make most of us look good, they are amazingly accurate! Before was original condition at time of receipt by me. Sale description should be restored, but I have no idea what the client would call it, bascially if it were me I would want to keep it cause it sure is nice! Thanks again!

Thor..You are indeed Blessed! Must have been one smart Chinese fella that passed on the "secret"!

Is this a text book case where a restoration was the the right (only) way to go? Provided it didn't have any specific provenance attached.

I was supposed to get some day, an original brought back Walther P-38 Rig with shoulder holster! Alas, that never came to be..Sadly I can't remember anything about it;markings, s/n, etc. Probably best that way.
The fact that I am getting closer to a brought back P-08 Rig is a story full of amazing hurdles...I sure hope it will happen. It won't be over until I have it in my hands though!
Thank You.. Regards, Jack

Good luck on your acquisition Jackz! It was the right thing IMO. Others may say different.

Jack,

Don't let Thor pull the wool over your eyes. He is a great shot. Also, his restored guns are true works of art. I have one, a matching 1915 DWM, that I shoot sparingly that evidently was pretty sad when he got it (I never saw it until he finished it). It just looks like new. He obviously knows how to repair/refinish, etc. etc. these guns and does a great job.

Note that this work isn't cheap, but you'll like the end product. You soon forget what you spent if you like the gun, but you'll always kick yourself for what you saved if you get a cheap job somewhere whenever you look at the defective/degraded gun.
