Default Magazines on sale at CDNN

Just saw this ad, with "Made in Italy" Luger magazines for $20.

They look like MegGar magazines... If so, it's a pretty good price... (Disclosure: I have no interest in the companies...)...

Thanks, I grabbed a few since the lowest I generally see them in person is around the $30. But I'd say more often than not Luger magazines are usually $35 or $40 per!

Strange, they also list the MecGar mags by name, $10 more. http://www.cdnnsports.com/luger-9-7-...l#.VtSio-aCgsp I may already have a couple of these from an eBay purchase. They do look like MecGar, but the bottoms are of different material, dull instead of shiny. They appear similar in all other respects and seem to work dependably.

Megcar magazines are all right but... The plastic bottoms do break. I had one of mine break in a competition. Had it replaced with a wooden bottom, never had a problem since.

By the way, their 1911 magazines are crap.

Here's the same item listed on eBay. I know this because the UPC (783583559577) for both are identical. Note the seller's description:

"It is a 3rd party contract fulfilled through Mec-Gar."

Only had the iPhone camera on me but here's a comparison between the $20 CDNN and the real deal MecGar I had purchased a while back.

CDNN $20 on the left; MecGar branded on the right:

Baseplate has a more matte finish while the MecGar is glossy.

Plastic button and follower on the CDNN $20 and the button and follower are metal on the MecGar branded one.

Left, no markings, right has "Made in Italy"

Left has no markings and dull/matte plastic baseplate. Right has "MecGar" stamped and a glossy/bright plastic baseplate.

Haven't shot the CDNN $20 mags yet, will report back though if anyone is interested. MecGar works 100% though.

The last 3 blue Mecgars I bought, were in the blister pack labeled Mecgar, and had plastic followers.

Oh! I forgot to mention, these came in plastic bags with a sticker. No blister pack or box of any kind.

Yes, I'd like to hear how well the CDNN works.

Thanks.

I have had G. T. rebuild all my shooter mags. to his spec. and they work great. It would be interesting to get a $20 CDNN mag to him for a review.

it also appears that the mag follower button is removable thru the large hole at the bottom of the left side of mag, rather being peened in, as are the mecgars and original mags. This could either be a plus, if the mag spring will compress enough to get the button to the removable position, or could be a negative, if the button gets loose enough that it will not activate the hold open. TH

Same here; from Greg Cote. Plastic blister with sliding cardboard backing; plastic follower and plastic base.

Got some good use out of the CDNN $20 mags and they ran 100% they're a little tougher to get the last (8th) round in the magazine but other than that, they actually ran flawlessly. I was surprised.

Here's a little video; two of the mags used are the CDNN ones, one is a proper MecGar and the remaining is an unknown one:
