Post Stoeger 22

Hello,
I just bought a Stoeger 22 #CL031xx in very good shape. 95% bluing turning to a nice pantia brown
all over. I had heard that some of these were of poor quality and made of pot metal. Mine seems to be made of steel as it is very heavy(as much as my
1945 P-38)and a magnet sticks to it very well. Is this a better made one? Grips are original, clip is also and it works very well.

Also I have just now received a 1917 LP-08 DWM that the upper is almost all matching (sideplate, one small part does not)#2225on top, but frame is from a Police model? #2402t with a infinty mark by the #(what is looks like) and has a marking on front strap L.Me.276. (Missing cut off safety) grips match LP-08 type. Mag is wood bottom #3093+ with a mark that looks like a crown over u ?(or B) Gun over all orginal finish in very good but pantia on upper parts, not as much on frame. I know this is a parts gun, but had not seen any markings like this before.

Soooo... what is the unit mark? can I put a orginal stock/rig on this LP-08? can anyone tell me how to adjust the trigger as it clicks at the sideplate before it fires(not smooth)

Any info will help as I am learning.

I wished that I had the parts from both guns to make them complete as I think they would have been
very nice.

Oh I paid $180 for the stoger, $850.00 LP-08

Thank you

Michael, $850 for a parts Artillery isn't bad,

Sounds like a fun gun, both of them actually.

The Unit Mark; L.Me.276 I would say is actually a Police Marking, which would stand for Landjagarei (rural constalbury) Merseburg (weapon) # 276

The frame is obviously from a Police Era gun with the marking and safety. Does it have a sear safety? I assume when you said cut safety that was a magazine safety.

Go here for a list of Lugers that have been removed from the purview of the NFA and may be owned and transferred with the original shoulder stock without requiring registration or transfer tax.

Question

No Serial No ?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
Jim Keenan,
Look at the Very Bottom Of The C&R List.

http://www.atf.treas.gov/firearms/curios/sec3.htm

Below is the last article on the C&R List,

Winchester, 1902, pistol made from a rifle, cal. .22, produced at factory, having no S/N, but having a decorated stock and accompanied by documents denoting its use by Mr. Ned Tupperwein.

Try this today and LOOK OUT <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> Much Trouble, How many laws would this break today???? <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />

Most .22 rifles and shotguns (and many other guns) had no serial numbers prior to 1968 when the law made factory serial numbers mandatory. (I have several guns with no serial numbers, including a "Liberator" pistol.)

At that time, a lot of companies dropped their cheaper or low volume guns because it would have cost too much to put serial numbers on them and keep the required records.

That why the law makes it illegal to REMOVE a serial number or to possess a gun from which the serial number HAS BEEN REMOVED, but does not make a gun illegal that never had a serial number.

As to the pistol made from a rifle, no law would be violated if done by the factory and they made it a new model. That is essentially what Remington and Savage did with their XP100 and "Striker" pistols.
