I, for one, am glad to see it, because I have a question (raising hand). What is the proper magazine for a 1917-date Navy?

I believe I have read that they got away from the concentric-ring bottom by 1917, but I'd like something a little more authoritative than my memory.

You would have to watch a movie called "Mars Attacks" to understand. While not an Oscar winner it does feature an all star cast.

According to data in "Imperial Lugers" p. 187 the correct mag for your gun would be the plain bottom.

So many 1916 & 1917 Navy Lugers are pictured in the texts with concentric ring magazines. Are they all wrong? [img]confused.gif[/img]

I thought the old Classifieds section at the main Forum site is still open.

Maybe a seller could post a photo, which could invite a technical discussion, but then direct any potential buyers to the Classifieds section to get all the sales info...

This would give folks a a chance to alert memebers to what is for sale at the Classifieds without throwing a commerical in our faces ?

On E-bay I Have seen concentric rings on Magazines and wonder how many times it is a selling tool or what is the chance of each one being a Navy model magazine? [img]confused.gif[/img]

I have to agree with everyone else that advertising isn't for the discussion forum. It should be left to the classified section. This particular sale falls in the grey area. Its not a boring, ongoing commercialization. I have to apologise to the seller, but I have to gently lean to the other guys on this one.

It is no big deal this time, but I concur with Big Norm and many of the others... We have a fully functional Classified section for things that you are selling.

Nice Photos of Lugers and accessories on the other hand are always welcome to be posted on the forums...even when they are linked from auctions. The photos invite legitimate discussion about Lugers and accessories and backchannel communication via private message or email would be encouraged...

I do have trouble connecting the classifieds from my work. What are the chances of having a classified section that is not linked with the old board? [img]confused.gif[/img]

While I don't remember any inquiries on the new board, someone new was always asking where to find parts of one type or another on the old board. I tried to direct them to Tom Heller who is a regular on the boards. Maybe this was crass and unethical also, but it was done only with the best of intentions.

Johnny, I have pointed people in Toms direction also, and Thors and Hughs. If I was a new guy, I'd want some trusted names to go to and ask them their opinion or costs to repair or fix an item.

Two things guys... first of all, pointing someone at a source for parts is not a crime or for that matter an endorsement... it is just a fact that some people are parts sources... Tom Heller is one of those.

Secondly, Doug... I think you may have the wrong impression... The Discussion Forums are part and parcel of what you called "the old site"... it isn't the other way around.

The primary entry point for the discussions is the Lugerforum.com homepage. If like some you prefer to open the discussion board in it's own window for more space you are welcome to do so, but the "old site" isn't going away... it is the primary site for the Lugerforum.

Please let me know what kind of problem you have getting to the classified section from your place of work and I will try to advise on what the workaround might be.

when I hit my bookmark 'Pistole Parabellum'for the old Luger forum, I get the 'Luger of the Month' but I don't get the tables on the left. I found that hitting 'www.lugerforum.com' gets me the 'Luger of the Month' and the tables.

Your Pistole Parabellum must have the URL for direct to the main page... to get the frames version with the choices on the left you must go to www.lugerforum.com

Just delete your old bookmark and then create a new one...
