Wes, it was not made that way. Someone, possibly the original owner (or the dealer) has stuck a standard SS hat skull on it. Looks neat but not factory original.

Herb,
Thanks for the info. Do you think that the pin has now punctured the holster? Pretty idiotic question, for I fairly well know the answer.

Wes,

I have a couple of holsters with collar pins, SS Skull, etc. on them. I can only state that one of the holsters did come back with the pins attached to the flap because I bought the rig from the vet that brought it back. Usually you can tell if the pins have been on the holster for a long time from the immpression made into the leather and if the pins are corroding or not. You can never tell if they are original bring-back or not, but many are.

The rigs I have is a Walther PP, holster, and spare mag bought from the vet. He said he bought the pistol and holster from another guy, got the pins from someone else and put them on the holster for "looks".

Most of the time, the pins add nothing to the value of a holster and may reduce the value. Since the pin is present, leave it alone because if it is removed, the hole left will definetly reduce the value some. Hey, you never know, it may have come from an SS Soldat.
