Default Luger Price check

Howdy everyone! First post here, but I could use some help.

How much would a decent condition Luger p08 9mm be? Non matching barrel and magazine serial numbers, but it appears to be in good condition.

On GB, it looks like most have matching serial numbers and they go for a premium.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mismatched P08 Lugers tend to go anywhere from 600-1200 depending on a wide variety of factors.

Rick, Welcome. MUCH more info needed? Does it actually fire a round downrange and feed another? How is the bore? DWM or Mauser? I could ask another dozen questions..YOU might be wanting to ask yourself these same questions..

Default Prices

Some of the old hands may say that you should be able to get a decent shooter Luger for less than a thousand but I would caution you that as a new buyer unfamiliar with the world of Lugers, you should proceed slowly. What may look like a good deal to a new collector will elicit disgust from those who have been collecting for a number of years. Decide what era you wish to collect and what you wish to do with your pistol. Is it a collector's piece which you have no desire to ever fire or are you looking for a piece that you can fire without any regard for risking breakage? Learn from the people on this board, ask questions and post pictures of Lugers that may interest you. There are a lot of Lugers for sale and many are pieced together or horribly refinished sporting outlandish prices. The hobby is a minefield but it is very satisfying when you come across a fine example with history that you can trace. Were it not for the many fine people on this board who were willing to share their extensive experience, I would have fallen for at least two bad examples instead of finding an excellent condition WW1 example with significant history. Enjoy the search.

Rick,
welcome.
It would be much easier if you just told us the price the guy wants- then a "good or bad" is easy.

All the other questions apply though.

Better "lugers" are sometimes not much if any more costly than "shooters".

We still need to see more pictures but it looks like your example has been partially reblued and buffed out in a few places. Not only that, a few parts are mismatched. Assuming it functions properly and that it’s bore is in decent shape, I’d say it’s worth around 900. Again, need more pictures and better ones at that to ascertain better pricing. Such things you’ll want are pictures of the toggle train, receiver, any and all proof markings and serial numbers visible on the outside of the gun to start.

That’s a really good price if you can get it for $600.

Wait, he said he never shot it. No im concerned, since I do want to shoot it. Now it's a gamble whether the mismatched parts will make it function. He does say the barrel does not match the rest of the gun. However, he also has never field stripped it, nor does he know how.

You will not find a complete luger for less than $600

your pictures pretty much show two sides - but it doesn't really matter. The mismatched items could cause all kinds of problems or it could cause little concern.

***Unloaded does it go click? - that means it should fire - doesn't mean it will strip and fire a second time

***** what kind of magazine? The best shooter mags are east german or swiss, then probably a mec gar, which are still made

*******$600 - you might have to invest a couple hundred and get it working, or it might just shoot, I have made up lots and lots of parts guns and most shot just fine....

From what I can see, I would buy that Luger for $600 in a "New York second"!! There are plenty of folks here that are more than willing to help you with this Luger, if needed. It does have that famous left grip chip.

You can hardly find Lugers for $600. Pounce on this deal.
