Default new collector trying to identify

I have recently purchased a .30 cal luger and am trying to identify the small crown with a N under it in the left side and underside of the pistol and the numbers 8413. I am also having some Jamming issues where the round will not eject or a missfire.

It most likely is a east german or russian import? Import markings?

The crown N was the proof marking placed on a luger (or other gun) that had been tested and proved to be good (fired and it passed). The 8413 should be the same number as the serial number, if not then the barrel has been changed.

The gun has a certain Eastern-European VoPo look. The grips are DDR VoPo without doubt.

Are you sure it's .30 luger and not 9mm? Never saw a .30 luger DDR VoPo before...

Edward Tinker, what about the crown above the N. Do you think that the jamming problem is due to the mag. My first attempt will be to get a new mag any Ideas on where to pick some up

I don't know if they're available in .30 but from what I read here so far Mac Ger are the best available magazines for Lugers. You should contact G.T. here in the forum, he is a specialist for magazines. I had two magazines refurbished by him recently.

All Luger mags will function with both 9mm or 30 cal. The case of a 30cal is the same diameter, but is necked down. Both are the same length. Only the barrel determines the caliber of a Luger. The frame, receiver, breech block, and toggles are the same for each variation.
Exception to the rule: 45 cal. Luger.

Vlim,
Thanks. I didn't know that. What is different about them that they won't accept both calibers?

#3 exception; .380 and .32acp, Baby Lugers.
