How many Lugers were chrome plated as opposed to nickle? I suspect many so called chrome jobs were actually nickle.

This one was CHROMED, it sat in my new nickel stripping solution for three days (I checked it regularly of course) with NO change in appearance. I really have not done enough of these to know though, but I have talked to probably a dozen individuals that wanted it done, they just sold the gun or decided later not to have the Luger restored. You also hear about P.38s being chromed or nickeled.

My unscientific WAG is that more were nickled in germany than chromed, as they were in shambles and it seems that chroming would have been easier in late 1940's, early 1950's America than in Europe.

And I wonder how often people say chrome, and its actually nickle...

Interesting, as the 5 cent piece can be spelled either way. Go to Google and put in "Jefferson Nickle" or "Jefferson Nickel", and information on the coin will come up for either spelling...
