Border Shipping
Does anyone know what is required to legally ship a Luger to the US from Canada. Is it a painfull process? I don't even want to advertise it if it can't be sent.

Re: Border Shipping
Alex - your best bet is to contact Bob Simpson of Simpson Ltd - his email is www.simpsonltd.com He has an import export license and does this for many of us. Hope this helps.

Re: Border Shipping
Hi Alex,
I have had some experience in bringing a Luger in from Canada. To make a long story short, the process took over a year. Seems ATF has set up some certification requirements about how long the piece has been in Canada and assorted other arcane things that only a Govt bureaucrat would care to know. The real danger however, is on the buyers end. If the piece is not as advertised, the buyer must go through the Export process to get the gun returned to the seller. If seller is in Canada, I believe there are substantial problems with re-importing. And, oh by the way, the gun will now have an import stamp on it... I am very glad we do not get all the government we pay for! Hope this helps Tom |

CANADIANS
They have to be able to prove where the gun has been for the past 5 years in Canada...often, difficult! I am told the old records are deleted when registered to a new owner up there.
Returns are almost impossible! Guns are cheap up there but not worth the hassle! The Shadow Knows.... |

Re: CANADIANS
I was just reading a article in one of our local papers. It originated from the Associated Press. It seems that during the year 2000 England experienced at 53% increase in crimes involving the use of firearms by the bad guys. Weapon ownership by civilians is banned. Everyone is worried. It's a repeat of the old cry, when they outlaw guns, only outlaws will have them. Food for thought for Americans.
