Sorry guys I went off the deep end today. Needed a light and powerful carry gun for keeping on the body at the shop and during running errands. I sold a minty 41 Magnum to finance the purchase of a brand new Glock 29 compact 10mm. Man....the old Blue dot will make that blaster fun! BOOOOOOOOM.

I'd be interested to hear your impressions of the recoil in the 29, as it's a mighty little pistol for a hot loaded 10..!!! (YIKES!!!)

I have owned a Glock 20 (the big GLOCKZILLA 10) and 22 (40 S&W) and Natalie carrys a 19 9mm. I have been warned that this gun is a handfull.

The 10mm is a much underated cartridge, I never quite understood why the 40 S&W managed to overtake it. Why buy a pale imitation when you can get the real thing <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

One of the reasons the 10mm succumbed to the .40 S&W is recoil manageability. The cartridge proved too much for female officers and smaller males. The FBI also had problems with the S&W pistol designed around the cartridge.

In recent years, with the advent of less-than-lethal options, resources for firearms training are dwindling. Many police agencies do a bare bones qualification once a year. It takes an enormous amount of time to deprogram "flinching" from just one student. If you have two or three on an eight man line, it's near impossible to get them qualified.

I personally favor the 10mm, but the .40 has mass appeal. The 10mm pushed the envelope just a little too far. The .40 was the step back into the comfort zone. Kind of scientific-like (if you ask me) and the main reason for the cartridge's huge success.

Ted, I bought a NAA 380 auto for a carry piece, it fits nicely in a shirt pocket but the accuracy is to be desired. At 10 feet it is really chancy that you will hit something. The great thing about it is it's size, it is one of the smallest .380 made.

I have a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm and various Sig and Glock firearms in .40. Next to my trusty S&W model 640 revolver in .357 magnum, a .357 Sig barrel works great in a .40 and packs a big punch.

Hi Rick and Mark,

I love the 10mm. Rick, the 10 reloads very easily. The dies will work on either the 10mm or the .40 - same shell holder as well. Also, I use Nosler bulk packs (250) in either 150 or 180 gr - so shooting is pretty inexpensive, especially compared to factory ammo at $16-$20 per box. Also, you might want to try AA5 for a powder for the 10mm..?? Seems to work well...

Also - here is one of my 10's - Colt Combat Delta, which I "mildly enhanced"....

I've owne two 10mm Auto pistols now. A Bren Ten and now a Glock 20. There is enough WOW to keep me enjoying this cartridge for as long as I can enjoy shooting. Sure would be great if they could make a Stainless Steel Parabellum down in Houston, in 10mm Auto!!!

I totally head over heels in love with my GLock 29. ACCURATE, a SWEET firing, I loved it! 9 grs of Blue Dot were ejecting in a sweet pile about 1.5 feet away. The 11 gr load was ejecting 12' away.....whoaaaaa Nelly!!!! Too far I guess for the spring but a great load. These were Remington's 165 gr Golden Saber bullet. I then fired the 11 gr load into a 6" thick phone book that was totally soaking wet with water BACKED with a steel Pig siloette target to attempt a bullet capture. This target was 25 YDS away. The round left a 5" diameter massive permanent hole in the back of the book, then I recovered the Saber JAcket that was totally flat and sharp on the Saber pedals, about 1" in diameter and pretty much intact. The core continued on and knocked the silloettte over and then richocetted off the ground some 50 yds behind the target. The siloette weighs around 35 pounds. I was so shocked over the destruction power of this load, the wet lap looked like a magnum hit it.
Very few times in my life have I been so totally happy with a load and a weapon! IT WAS AWESOME!

Johnny, they did make a stainless 10 mm down in Houston. It just never went into production. I had occasion to talk to a nice fellow at Mitchell during their turn at distributorship. He told me they did plan to produce one in 40 S&W, but shortly thereafter Stoeger took over.

I don't care for the Glock as a carry piece. I do have the big 10 mm Glock for fun in the woods. recoil is not bad. Seems like a 41 mag would do anything a 10 mm would do as far as the ballistics go. Guess Thor likes flat pistols.

Don't tell anyone about the 10 - as it will drive up prices, but the 10mm is my CCW as well...

Also - try AA5 as a powder - I think you will like it better then BD.....

Shot the load today to see if DENIM would plug the hollow point-NOPE! Four layers of denim in front of wet lap, penetration was 15" Hollow point with those thick saber pedals was 0.75" in diameter, mushroom was 0.9" tall. I would hate to get smacked by one of these.
