Post Spanish proofed Luger?

Went to a local auction today to try to buy the only Luger that was there. Got there are found a beautiful 1913 DWM in a commercial P-35 holster. The odd thing was on the left side where the proofs were large block letters "GERMAN" on the barrel were Spanish nitro proofs and on the upper receiver "Not Spanish"! My heart sank and the gun went for $650. The finish was nice, but where the numbers were stamped it was blued, so an obvious refinish. Don't think I should have gone higher??

Personally, I think that would be an interesting gun, but most collectors would scorn it because of the Spanish markings. All a matter of taste, but I think folks miss out on a lot of otherwise good guns by taking the "it must be perfect" attitude. (One guy, whose name shall not be mentioned, indicates that any gun made after 1918 is of no interest. I think he is missing a lot.)

Now, now Jim. I didn't say they were of no interest. I said they are "reproductions", but some of those repros are quite interesting. I even have a 1928 and a 1935 (Dutch and Portuguese) that a darned interesting.
