Help identify a Commercial
I was at a gunshow last month and an older gentleman walked up to our table with a oversized pistol rug. Curiosity lead me to ask what he had. He pulled out a luger holster and handed it to me, asking whats it worth ? It was a commercial luger, 30 luger cal, 4 3/4 barrel, grip safety, strawed small parts, wood base mag in 95%+ condition, serial was either 64XXX or 68XXX. Holster was chocolate brown in color, no markings at all. Buckle was leather covered. Similiar to 1906 commercial holster in Benders Luger holster reference. (Page 267) We told the owner it was a commercial, he replied he thought it was worth at least $2,000. Unfortunately I didn't get his name or phone number. Was this a 1906 commercial per the serial range ? What would a good value have been ? Thanks for your input !

Boss, With the grip safety and the 7.65x120mm barrel, this definately sounds like a 1906 commerical. They were intermixed with the 1908 commericals in this range, upto about the 69xxx range. I recently sold a similar 98%er in the 65xxx range to another forum member for $2,500. Tom H.

Boss, was the holster similar to the one that was posted on the Forum that I recently acquired? They are beauties and worth plenty with all the tools. See the post "Doc Fisher's 1906 Commercial holster". The holster may be worth more than the pistol!!
