WaA 195 Stamp On Garand Stock ???

This stamp appears on what is reported to be a M1 Garand stock. I see that it is genuine on several Luger holsters. Does anyone know if fake stamps of this kind are frequently encountered? Thanks for even looking at this post.

I would be very suspicious of that stamp. certainly 100s were captured, but reissued? no.

-All- of the eagle-circle-swastika WaffenAmts with number which Costanzo documents, have the WaAxx underneath the c-swastika, not aligned with it. Fake stamps of every kind are encountered all the time, whenever there is money to be made by offering a unique or rare example. It is the bane of this collecting hobby.

Count this mark as very suspect.

Just a thought . If it's a ligimate stamp. It could have been put there by a G.I. who was in a unit that captured the facility. Maybe he found the stamp and just thought that it would be neat to put it on his M-1.

That's actually what I was thinking, but didn't want to get anyone's hopes up.

Thursday a guy came into the shop where I work. He had four long guns that he wanted to sell. Three of them were just beat up and rusted junk. Joe (owner) offered the guy $150 and he took it.

I was in the backroom and Joe came back with the fourth one. He said " You know about this Nazi stuff. What is this thing?" It was a decent German G 41 rifle with a bullet or shrapnel graze on the right side of the forend.

I told him that it was probably worth more than $150.
