1918 Navy, Again ;]
I mentioned in a early post that Ralph Shattuck had a 1918 Navy for sale and I saw it. But in all of the books that I've read there are no known 1918 dated Navys. In John Walter's "The Luger Book" he states that the only 1918 dated Navy reported was believed to be mismatched Army P08 receiver. Has anyone else seen a 1918 Navy? If so, do you remember the serial number.

The top expert on German Naval Lugers is Tom Knox, the president of NAPCA. Things got so bad with fakes that he finally gave up collecting them. If I knew anything about them, I could not afford to collect them; they are too expensive for my blood.

Several weeks ago I posted two messages that provided a taxonomy of Navy Lugers and the differences between the versions. Might want to refer to it .

Re: 1918 Navy, Again ;]
Tom,
I saw your nice write up on navy Lugers. I also mentioned in a response thread that there were 1915 and 1918 navies. I must be wrong. My statement was based on seeing Ralphs list of Lugers and also seeing the 1918 navy. I think that he had two of them in his list. But on reviewing Jan Stills book, I see that there were 4231 1918's delivered. No mention of the 1915's. So it looks like I was wrong on the 1915's. But would the 1918's have a chamber date of 1918? Kenyon in "Luger at Random" says that he has never seen examples of a 1914 or 1915 navy. No mention of the 1918. Big Norm |

I believe Still indicates that of the 8000 Navy Luger ordered in 1916, 4231 were delivered in 1918, but there is no mention of a 1918 chamber dated Navy. He indicates the existence of only 1916 and 1917 chamber dated Navys.
