Default Pricing question

Hi all,

I'm looking for a new shooter Luger, preferably mismatched WWI in date. What would be a reasonable asking price for these? I've been off the P-08 market for such a long time that I don't know what is appropriate any more for a very basic shooter.

M:
Depending on condition and how mismatched it is, condtion of bore and finish, I'd plan to pay $600-$800 for one that it doesn't hurt to look at.

That's good to hear, I was looking around and the prices on some sites were a bit beyond my reach (adding in FFL and all that). But 600-700 is well within my current budget.

Michael,

I've seen this link posted in other forums/topics, but it could be worth your time check it out. RGuns is apparently importing P.08's that have been in Russia, and have both WWI and WWII vintage guns. The WWI's are $699 for mismatched, and the WWII's are $799 for mismatched. In either case, matching #'s adds $100, and hand selection adds $50. Here is the link:
http://www.rguns.net/pistols/semi-au...ls-other.shtml
I personally haven't bit on this yet, as I just last weekend exhausted my gun budget with a matched 1918 DWM found at a gun show, but I think I saw a post from someone who had purchased one of these and was satisfied with the transaction. Just my $0.02 worth.

My brother just bought a WW2 luger from RGuns a short time ago. He paid $100 extra for matching numbers and $50 for select pick. What he received was a 1936 S/42 with about 30% bluing, all parts matched but hold open latch (not all matching) and the side plate had a sizeable ding in it. They refunded his $100 when confronted on the mismatch. On the plus, the bore was very good with no corrosion and very little wear, tight action with very little wear on inner parts and a very nice FXO unnumbered magazine. Also it wasn't X'd as most Russian Lugers are.

There's an Rguns Luger video on YouTube under ''DWM Luger P.08. It looks decent.

Thanks, I had heard of the RGuns Lugers but wasn't sure of the quality I might expect from ex-Russian guns (which it sounds like many of these are). It's a bonus that they do have WWI pistols, though. I might give them a try at some point (I'm still shopping around and would probably like to buy from someone here first).

Just a quick update, sadly the 1918 DWM I was eyeing at Checkpoint Charlies was gone by the time I rang this morning so I tried RGuns. I just placed an order for a WWI P08 and I'll let you all know what it looks like when it arrives. I hope they don't accidentally send me a WWII pistol (as I read happened to someone else here) as I am quite picky about getting a WWI era pistol since 'straight-up' WWII collecting doesn't interest me and I already have a Weimar era pistol. Thanks again for the info, guys.
