Default G.T. on Loose Sideplate Issues

I came across this little nugget of wisdom while looking for pretty pictures...

I've not seen this repair mentioned before, but IMO it should be tried before trying to bend the tang...

I recommend G.T.'s fix be a 'sticky'!

Here's a pic of the back of the 'takedown lever' showing the cam...

If you only look at the lever installed you won't even know this is there...But you'll see a distinct gap between the sideplate tang and the lever shaft...

That part of the tang is what Gerry and Tom are talking about tapping to extend it slightly...And eliminate the slop...

...And here's a pic of the tang that needs to be 'tapped' to extend it...

Note the gap between the tang and the lever, where the cam will rotate up into...
