Alternative Artillery Barrel Fabrication

Some time back, someone posted a link to the site of a German barrel manufacturer, who offered repro Artillery barrels...I believe in both 30 cal & 9mm...

The PC I had at that time crashed and I lost the link/site URL...

Could some kind soul please post a link to that site???

(This is one of the 9mm barrels)

If anyone has a blueprint for an artillery barrel please post it here for download. That is the one blueprint I am asked for most often, and not one in my possession. Thanks.

My time is limited as my employer decided to downsize...so the people left are forced to work days off, overtime, holidays etc...Leaving me very little time for projects...

It looks like i will have to make my own, as i got emails from both companies mentioned above...

So, if I have to make my own (again), I'll use the Mauser C96 rear sight [shortened] again, in a homemade sabot, and a Luger 1900 style front sight base with a Finnish front sight blade...but it'll take a while...

This won't be an exact clone...I'm going to use a Broomhandle rear sight (shortened 3/8") and I like the Luger 1900 front sight base with a Finnish style front sight blade..

Thanks for continuing to post your progress and pictures.

My grandfather was a Swedish machinist, and I was always so impressed with his resourcefulness and ability to visualize and plan projects.

Sounds like your work situation is difficult with the downsizing, but it's noteworthy that you do have customers continuing to demand work in this economy. My grandfather made commercial sewing machines, and worked continuously during the depression in the 1930s.

Too few young people are becoming machinists today!

What level of tolerance are you working to on this project?

Anxious to see how you finish reaming with the receiver on. I'm about at the same point, don't really want to spend $40 or so for a one off. Upside down 3/8 extension too big.

Clymer's sold an extension, fits between that floating reamer holder in the pic and the, er, reamer...but as you pointed out, it won't fit in the Luger extension...So I bought a 6" Craftsman 3/8" extension and turned it down to fit...(Carbide cutter)...

Aha! Back to the grinding wheel. I had planned to try and hand ream that last couple of thou. Do you think it's necessary to use the lathe with a piloted reamer? Bill
