My first Luger (and G'day from Australia)

First of, I'd like to say thanks to everyone who contributes to this site, It has been a wealth of information in helping me with this purchase.
Secondly, I'm not here to ask the usual "what's it worth" questions as I'm happy with what I paid and it ain't going to be sold anytime soon

It's a 1916 DWM Artillery Luger in 9mm
And as you can see, It's in bloody good nick, bluing is awesome, straw is nice and strong, all matching numbers except for the trommel mag and loader.
I Have a bit of info from the previous owner who received it from a family friend who captured it during Operation Shingle in WW2 (he was a LT with the RNVR)

The trommel mag will have to stay at work (I work at a gun shop) until I can get my collectors lic sorted or find a way of capping it to 10 rounds without permanently modifying it (stupid laws we have here in Aus)

Have to try and do something about preserving the holster without damaging it, any ideas are welcome on that one.

Anyway, just thought I'd make some sort of contribution and show it off

Extremely nice condition. Did you say that the wood magazine AND the shoulder stock match the gun numbers?
Jerry Burney is our holster guy and let's see that he says about putting a bit of life back into the leather. Please don't put anything on their until we have heard from him.

Thanks gentlemen, I shot it for the first time today and it's absolutely amazing, functioned flawlessly, not to mention it easily out shoots my USP and Glock 34.

I will do some research with the authorities regarding the trommel mag but whatever happens I certainly won't be permanently modifying or damaging it.

And I'm in no rush to do anything with the holster, It's waited 98 years to be taken care of so I will exercise some patience

David, none of the mag's match the guns serial number but the stock is matching.

Zane, Many of us do not shoot collectible Lugers .The risk of breaking a numbered part is just too great. Once broken, the firearm can no longer be matching. It loses both financial and historic value...

Very true Marc but I just had to do it.
You can rest assure this won't be a gun that get's used regularly but it will be shot on special occasions.
