Default New Mauser

To be certified, all gun nuts should have at least one Luger, and I finally got mine at the age of 54. I wanted a shooter, so after researching this forum (thanks to all of you) I bought one of the late model commercial Mausers in 9mm, with a 4" barrel. Since I'm no collector, I saved a few hundred by getting one without the box or tools, but it does have two magazines. Hopefully I'll get to shoot it Friday; the trigger isn't too bad at all. I don't like magazine safety's on any gun, but this one isn't bad. I have large-ish hands, so the straight front grip of the swiss style fits me well.

Hopefully all the S&W and Colt revolvers won't gang up on it in the safe tonight.

Thanks to this forum and an old Guns & Ammo, I know how to strip it, and I'm going to buy an inexpensive repro magazine loader off of the 'bay.

Is there anything in particular I should know?

For those who keep track, the serial number is 11.0061xx.

Thanks for any information you can impart.

Bob, welcome to the forum.

There is actually a part of the forum that dealsspecifically in post-WW2, as this commerical area is more for pre-ww2.

Hello Bob,
Welcome to the Luger Forum.
Happy to see that your first Luger is a Mauser Parabellum.
Your pistol is an early production.
I guess your pistol is FBM marked, if not maybe you have the year of production marked on the frame.
Can you check this point?
The serial number on the frame has one or two "dot" in the pattern?
Can you check, in addition, if the rear toggle link is internally numbered with the last two or three digits of the serial number?
Thank you for let we know.
Have a look at my web site to have more info about the Mauser Parabellum production.
Have fun with your Mauser Parabellum.
Ciao
Mauro

Welcome to the forum!

You should be happy with one of the Mauser Parabellum pistols. Mine is a 6" in .30cal. I hope that yours shoots as nicely as mine does. If you want extra magazines, the ones by Mecgar should give you good service.

Mauro has been collecting information about these guns to add to what is already published.

Let us know how the shooting went.

Yes, it's FBM marked, one dot in the serial number, and the last two digits of the serial number is internally marked on the rear toggle link.

It was a blast to shoot. I'm mainly a diehard S&W revolver kind of guy, but I appreciate all well-made mechanical objects, especially one with the history of the Luger. The fit and finish are outstanding on my gun, and the toggle makes it unique to shoot.

We should have a long and happy relationship.
