Three of a Kind - My Incredible Achievement

It is my pleasure to share with this forum an achievement which I consider incredible. Since the past five years or so, I have been able to acquire three original LP-08/TM-08 instruction manuals which are extremely rare.

I am posting various images of each manual showing the regiments which had received them during WWI. Maybe George will be kind to explain each regiment marking in more detail.

Listing of each manual

LP-08 manual #1 (left position) was actually issued to a Prussian regiment (see image #4 with its regimental stamp);
LP-08 manual #2 (right position) was issued to a Prussian regiment (see image #5 with its regimental stamp);
LP-08 manual #3 was issued to a Bavarian regiment (see image #3 showing a scan of its front cover, and corresponding image #4 with its regimental stamp and other markings).

I have noticed that the majority of collectors do not realize the importance and value of collecting literature (or 'software') for the purpose of expanding their knowledge, instead they prefer to mainly collect the guns and some accessories (the 'hardware'). Those collectors who only limit themselves to 'hardware' cannot recognize the price/value that some literature can fetch on the market and they tend to under-rate the value of literature because of its plain form and being made of paper which is seen as cheap material. Literature should be compared to cash - both are made of paper! And the hidden information in these surviving documents are a major contribution to our 'education'. Remember that knowledge is king, and not the size of a person's wallet.

I do not appreciate you abusing your privilages as a forum patron to 'down shift' my post below your post entitled 'Persian Artillery 1934', without any other person adding a reply to your post. When I had added my post to the correct section of this forum (under LP-08 Lugers), its title appeared on the main page where readers could easily notice it until a new topic is added. When I had returned about 1-2 hours later to edit the content, I noticed that its position had changed and your post was back on the main page without any replies to your post.

Furthermore, your post asking readers to look out for the matching magazine for your Persian LP-08 is in the wrong section of the forum in my opinion. It normally should be in the classifieds section.

Without expanding further on this matter, may I advise you not to be immature and annoy me.

Hello Rich,

All the three manuals are gray in colour with very slight colour tone between each one, probably caused by exposure to light or soiling.

I bought one manual in the US and the other two I found in France. Yes, they were expensive considering that only seven original LP-08 manuals are reported to exist. These manuals are like cash in the bank and I grab them wherever I can find them! Of the seven reported, three of them are in average condition, and I have been lucky to find these three manuals in very good to excellent condition. The manual with the Bavarian regimental stamp is the best of my three manuals.

Thank you for such a fine and informative post.
I agree with you 100% regarding the collecting of paper goods that are specific to the weapons.
Much more paper was discarded than the guns it accompanied.
The same holds true for Smith & Wesson and Colt.
