DWM at its military finest. A 1917 PO8 serial #9797d, A 1908 Navy DWM #2505b, 1917 luger Artillery#6586b Unit marked '169.R.1.K.6, with matched stock. Thanks especially to you know who!

Hi Eric, A small point, Paul von Hindenburg was not the Kaiser, he was a General. Nice guns, however. Best regards, Norm

Um....It's "ADOLF", not "Adolph".

Now that I have a 1979 Mauser Karabiner, there's a pull that wants me to go Imperial. I've had a Model 1900, so a Great-War war horse is in order. Got a nice new gun show coming up on January 15th, so I'll see what they have.

Can anyone read & translate the writing on the plate??? I'm pretty sure that Mrs Ring told us that that war ended in 1918, not 1915...

OK, I get - "to the memory of the war years 1914 - 1915"

A 1915 plate??? Kewl!!!

Yup....I also collect military medals, and I've seen a medal case for an Iron Cross second class marked only from 1914-1917. I agree with CIRELAW.....made during the war.

Well you can compare Paul von Hindenburg with president Eisenhower.
Hindenburg was a war hero and very popular after WW I, the hero of the battle of Tannenberg, were he won the most important battle against the imerial Russian army in 1915 . "Der Held von Tannenberg", nick name "Masuren Paule".
As of today, he is a well respected General and democratic elected former President of the "Weimar" republic.
During WWI and later on he had the popularity like a pop star. You could buy pictures, cups, plates, everything with his picture on it.

......and you're right, Hitler wasn't going anywhere while von Hindenburg was alive and in control, and Hitler knew it.

Von Mackensen was another superb leader of the Great War. Too bad that they weren't in charge at the turn of the century. Politics always rears its ugly head when disaster is waiting to happen.

In the theme of the thread, which was misidentifying famous figures, I figured I'd toss out an "Uncle" and an Anglicanized "Adolph" to keep it going. Too subtle, perhaps....

(I have seen Adolf Hitler's name spelled out once or twice before!) 8^)
