Default A Snail Drum Is Offered on Gunbroker for $1000~

I would question the price and condition! Any coments are appreciated especially with only a five word description from the seller!! Eric http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=429477632

Seems to me that the asking prices for snail drums has fallen over the last year or 2. Anyone else seeing that?

I'll defer to our members who have been tracking them for years! Heres one from Bob Simpson http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...ducts_id=19837 A much nicer condition~~

Here's one from Bob Simpson ...Functional however the retaining nut for the handle has broken away. Also has a dent and is $500 more! I would call that pretty poor.

Drums in general, loaders too... have indeed dropped some in price. Two things come into play here..In my opinion the offering from Numrich Arms of the reproduction drum & loader has an effect. Secondly the economy is a little slower..especially for items in the $1,000 and up catagory. Like the stock market..there are bargains out there...you just have to have some ready cash!

The drum on GB like Eric says has a very short useless description. Pics are very poor. Does it have any spring tension? There are a few important questions that need an answer.

Now if you're looking for a smoking bargain..George Fortier just lowered the price on this AEG drum!

Jerry the one you referenced is SWEET! Tks for the comparison!!! Keeping them honest! PS whats the going price on dust covers. I've wondered why they label it a 'dust' covers and not dirt and mud covers. I don'd understand the use the word "dust" as I'm sure the weren't anywhere long enough to gather dust! I know typical lawyer stuff! Eric PS George must have a large closet! You both are artillery heros!

One more inquiry. How did we wind up with two models! Was the lever in the newer model the only difference? Which version is rarer? Which is more valuable! When did they cease production of either? When did the hand loader appear? When did they cease making them? Once you catch the artilllery bug you are hooked!!! Eric

Eric..You need to buy this book! George Anderson wrote a lot of it but he is not given credit.

Eric, this will save you about a dollar: http://www.amazon.com/Luger-Snail-Ot.../dp/1931464421

Curious... The used books start at $43.16...for a book that's $25.95 new? What am I missing?
