.45 Luger Carbine comparisons

That's right, there is an "s" there. Toggle markings sure aren't the same. Are there two ?

I took a close look at the .45 Luger on the French site. Take a close look at the safety where it blocks the sear bar. Seems a bit odd shaped and not fitting so well. Then again, I've not had a chance to examine a .45 Luger really close, so maybe all of them are this way...

The left side view of the handgun alone is without question a photo of one of Mike Krause's guns because I have the same exact photo in my archive...that was captioned as one of his...

Having said that... I believe that the other photos are probably of the carbine in Ralph Shattuck's collection... but the photo quality is so poor that no comparison to known photos of this carbine are possible...

I doubt that either of these guns is in France... these are just some photos that somebody wanted to post on this website...

The carbine is not a .45, it is a 1902 that is mislabeled.

I think that John is correct that the side view is one of Mike Krause's guns. The sear bar safety is also at an odd angle on the original #2 .45 formerly in the Aberman collection and on the Krause reproductions. Supposedly in order to speed up delivery of the .45 for the US trials, a grip safety from a 1902 was used on the .45, so the angle did not match up with the relief on the sear bar. However, in this photo, in addition to the intentional difference in angles, the gap between the sear block and the sear cut is much more pronounced than either the Aberman gun or my Krause .45, so I don't know what is going on there.

John,

Taking quality photos of any of my collection is on hold indefinitely. Until my new house is built, I am living in a small apartment and I have to shoot everything hand held (most of my stuff is in storage), which usually requires throwing out more than half of the shots as unacceptable. I really don't have any place to properly set up good lighting and positioning. Even good natural light is difficult because of the layout of the apartment complex. Unfortunately, at the rate things are progressing on the house, I will be lucky to be in it by next March or April.

I ran a few rounds of DWM ammo through the .45 Luger and they seemed to work pretty well. If you have a couple of extra boxes of those, I wouldn't mind picking them up from you just to have a few on hand.
