Default 1902 DWM Prototype

Yesterday, I attended a small show here in SW Washington State. There was one most interesting Luger on display.

1902 DWM Prototype #10032-B

It is exactly as shown on page 64 of Lugers at Random.!! All matching and (to me) correct.

The gun was really nice but, somehow, it had been stored badly and there was about an area of 1-1/2 square inches of deep rusting on the slide and toggle in the area of the left knob and safety. The rest of the gun looked really 'primo'. Of course it had a story about being one of a cased pair that survived.

I am told that it will be going to the Reno show for display. I think it is a consignment gun but do not know for sure.

Orv, see above postings under early lugers on this Forum and also 1900-1918 posting on Jan Still's Forum. This piece has been discussed. The owner, I understand, is asking $17.5K for it and will bring it to the Reno show in August if it has not sold.
