Post Repro. grips

Just received a set of grips from CDNN Investments. I've installed them on my 42 Luger, and they look great. Needed minor fitting to clear mag. release spring, otherwise a very good fit. These grips replaced a set I had bought from GalatiInternational, which were very coarse checkerd [sharp on hand] quite pretty rosewood. The CDNN grips are comfy and look [to me]more like original issue walnut grips. I know this gun probably came issue with bakelite, but I'm a sucker for walnut.

Best regards, Stevie.

How do they fit under the safety? My experience has been that most leave a large gap underneath. The only ones I have found that fit as well as originals are the Nill's.

I got a pair of the cheaper ones, look nice, but caused me nothing but trouble.

The magazine will jam, the safety won't work and they get in the way of a my drinks. Well, the first two...

These grips from CDNN do leave alot of room under the safty lever, and appear identical to some grips I bought several years ago from Gunparts Corp. The Galati grips are really a better fit, and fit very close under the safty. The Galati grips needed some careful filing to clear the safty bar, also much thicker, well checkerd, about 14 lines per inch! The CDNN grips are checkerd about 18 lines per inch, and are more comfy. No clip problems, aside from the release spring groove needed 2 minutes of filing. Both CDNN and GalatiInternational grips cost about 19 bucks, Gunparts Corp are closer to 40 dollars now (34 dollars a few years ago). CDNN and Gunparts grips I believe are from the same manufacturer.

Best regards, Stevie.

When I get a Luger in my shop I check the clearances of the magazine release and mag button spring, usually on repos I have to add a small bevel to the inside of the grips to clear the spring. Nills FIT THE BEST bar none of the non original non vintage Luger grips. I wish we had a little more variety on wood color. I personally like the beech wood lighter color and orangy walnut. Darker walnut looks good to me on the later Mausers. For DWM and Erfurts I sure like the light colored grips.

My wife finds it odd that I own two Lugers and five sets of grips. I like to replace the original grips on these old pistols I collect, that way I can shoot em and not worry about chips, dents, or scratches. I've been known to fabricate my own grips for some of my old guns, when I can't get replacements.

P.S. how much are Nills grips.
