NEED HELP WITH EARLY LUGER! Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

I am trying to help my uncle find out what his luger is worth he is thinking about selling but we unfortunately don't know anything about these and there are thousands that look alike going for numerous different prices. He got it from his father who got it off a dead solider in WWII. It has holster, 1 mag, and gun. I will try and post some pictures. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. welcome to the forum, not sure why we'd email direct, that defeats the purpose of the forum

I can not tell if it is matched or mismatched, but in this condition, I would imagine it is worth around $400-500 - maybe an extra 100 or so for the holster (would need more pictures of it)

condition is a bit rough, but this is what I see, a WW1 (1916 DWM) luger that received the 1920 property marking, went into police service (see front strap); the magazine is probably repairable, but is pretty toast to most people unless they have parts.

Is there a loading tool in the small pouch? if yes, than another $40-$60

Thanks a lot for the info! All the numbers do match, assuming they are serial numbers and what not. Unfortunately, no loading tool. Anyhow just wanted to say thank you, now we have a place to start! I will be sure to let my uncle know.

No sear or magazine safety on the pistol, which is unusual.

Agreed, would that be something that would make it rare?

Not really. The grip strap marking indicates the pistol was issued to the Schutzpolizei 2nd Hundert-/Bereitschaft stationed in Duisburg in the administrative district of Düsseldorf. These barracked units were transferred to the military in 1934-35 and their P08s were exempted from the order to add sear and mag safeties.
