Default Seriously..

..if somebody wants to post a picture of a fine off-topic pistol (ok, even a long gun) what does the board of directors think? Owner's Corner? Unsorted Photos? Collector Pistols (don't have it yet)? or not at all? I am involved in some other newsgroups where people are actually unruly (as in disruptively vicious) and that is when the moderator or webmaster has to limit their 'air time'. I am appreciative that we don't have that here. Feeling good (it's Friday nite)..

Default My thoughts...

Just so's you all know... I am not here to lay down the law to anyone. I see my role as that of someone who can provide the technical environment in which to enjoy our hobby, and hopefully to enrich it.

Personally, I thought the picture Ted posted of the S&W was gorgeous. I've owned a couple of S&Ws in my time, and those of you who've looked at my profile know I still have at least one revolver.

That said however, I do feel feel that one of the strengths of this forum is it's focus on a single firearm. There are plenty of forums where various guns are discussed (www.rugerforum.com comes to mind), and I find that when the scope is too broad, you lose cohesiveness.

I think there is room for the occasional thread on P38s or K98s, and the occasional picture by Ted of a very fine rework he has done on a Colt SAA or some such, as long as our major focus remains with the Pistol Parabellum.

This forum is for our enjoyment, and we should enjoy it, it shouldn't be so restrictive that all off topics are taboo, neither should we be so diverse that we lose sight of our primary purpose.

Moderation in all things leads to a rewarding experience. Now having had too much wine with dinner (not following my own advice about moderation) I'm going to bed.

Hey Folks,

I see no problem with posting comments or photos of firearms other than Lugers. I like the P.38, all German used pistols, and the K98k. We do not need to be snobs about Lugers only, they are just the main interest for this Forum and we should not exclude any firearm from discussion. Sometimes we will need info on other types and the folks on this Forum can help with the questions.

Default For what it's worth

I guess that the reason this Forum is successful is the concentration of Luger Information and Discussions. If we start drifting too far afield then we take the chance of becoming a General Firearms Discussion Group. I guess I personally don't mind a thread here and there talking about other "like" firearms, but I think it would be a mistake to let it get out-of-hand! For what it's worth
