1918 Artillery on gunbroker-Good deal?

Hi, I'm new here, and am looking at bidding on a 1918 Artillery Luger on Gunbroker, but it says the grips and striker aren't numbered.
What would be the high end value on a pistol like that, in the shape that one looks to be in?
Are "shooter" grade artillery lugers still valued higher than standard pistols?
Would an unmarked striker place this pistol into the realm of "Shooter"?
Sorry for all the questions, but I really want an Artillery Luger, and don't have too much money to get a really nice one...
...but I don't want to pay too much for something that is not collectable unless it's close to the "going rate"...which I have no idea for on a shooter artillery model.

Welcome Tim,

Do you want a collectable artillery or a shooter artillery, they are different categories. You can shoot a collectable

but it is going to cost a lot more than one that is mismatched or has an issue and is thus not a collectable.

I would think a shooter artillery should go for at least a $1000, maybe $1200?

So $1600 is way out of line? Even if it's all matching except for the striker and grips which are "unmarked"?

Hi Earl,

I have a feeling that it will end at much higher than $1600. This is a fairly decent 1918 LP.08, not perfect , but not bad. I wouldn't be suprised if it goes for $2000 -$ 2500+.

Where are you in Oregon? I'm in Springfield.

Gents,

The lack of a SN on the striker or grips on a 1918 LP-08 is almost expected; at least it is not rare. That was the way things were going logistically speaking when the Kaiser was losing. I would have no hesitation about paying the asked price; as a matter of fact, it looks to be a bit of a bargain.

I agree with Tom, 1918's are a different thing...If I were to follow Tom around taking his advice I would soon be a rich man...

Guys, I guess I'm off my nut...what is a striker? The fireing pin is numbered..so?

Well, it's shot right out of my pricerange anyhow...I guess I'll keep saving. Unless any of you gents has a shooter Artillery or Navy that you want to pawn to a worthy gent for about $1500???

The striker IS the firing pin. Most commercial firing pins are not numbered. Arsenal/Armory replacements wouldn't be either.

Exactly, however the seller is describing separate pieces. Whether he means, the retainer/spring guide or something else?
