Default Dutch navy luger with ammo

Searched for a long time and had to say goodbye to some rare ammunition to finally obtain an example of the 48-round RWS sealed ammo tin that was used by the Dutch Navy in the 1930s.

Shown together with a DWM-marked but Mauser assembled Dutch Navy luger with period Dutch Navy holster.

The tins had both an inner and an outer label. Bullets are of the truncated cone design.

Great find to complete that set!

Forgive my ignorance on this but I’m just curious based on your post,

Do European laws limit how ammunition you may have at any point, even if that ammo is collectible and not meant for (or realistically capable of) use in any way other than as a collector item?

It depends per country. Over here the limit is based on environmental conditions, about 10,000 live rounds without additional approval.

Not all EU countries have a separate arrangement for cartridge collecting. So some collect on shooting licenses or hunting licenses.
