Hello John D.,

What a great effort on the work on your Beta site...!!! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Cannot wait until she goes on line, live...!!!

I love how all the Forum boards are pulled together and now the PP/PPK and P-38 folks have a place to place their Classified Ads...instead of just mixing them up with the discussion threads...

You do such great work for this group of collectors and gun nuts !

One question : What would you think about having three (3) separate holster fourms ? One for lugers, the second for PP/PPK's, and the third for P-38's. I was thinking one common holster section might get crowded for folks that have only interest in one out of the three...

p.s. I got geeky this weekend...just finished installing a 802.11g wireless LAN in our home...now all of our desktops and my laptop and printers, scanners, copier, etc. can all talk to each other.

I can even take my laptop to the John and post messages...probably sharing a bit too much...hee, hee, hee...!!!

Best Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Hi Ed and Pete (oh - and Tom... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> )

Ed - I think you are talking about the navigation links??? I can probably program those back in.. BUT - let's say your are in the "Navy Lugers" section..... To get back to the "Main Forum" - just click on the mainsite banner.. If you are reading a thread in the Navy section - you'll see:
Navy Lugers
Previous Thread | Next Thread
which allows you jump back to that Forum - or even scroll thread to thread... The reason for that, is in THIS forum - folks have to go back to the thread index - then "open" the next thread - so the new navigation system is "one click" rather the three. As well - at the bottom of any page - you'll see the "Forum Jump", which allows you to enter any area of the site with a single click....?

Hi Pete!!! Wireless, huh?? NOW you are hooked!!! We expect to see lots more posts from you - since you can post from anywhere (even places we don't wanna know you are posting from .... About the seperate holster forums.. I'd have no problem setting that up as well (3 Forums). My original thought was to combine them, as many of the questions are similiar..?? However, not being a holster guy myself, yours and others feedback is appreciated!!!

Best to all..!!

John D.

What is the function of the "Search this Forum" and the "Search this Thread"? Do you use keywords? Is it intended to speed up the search rather than using the general "Search" function at the top of the page, which I assume will search across all forums as you indicated in your first post?

Hi Ron..!

Actually - there are 4 different Search functions (I just finished the last one a minute ago - called "Quick Search"..

1- Anyway - unlike this site, you can search across all Forums, including the Archives from my old Web discussion Board.....

2- Also - you can Search just one forum (at the top/bottom when you open a Forum)

3- Also - as you note, you can search just a thread (for threads that go across multiple pages, etc.)

4- Finally - there is a "quick search" which goes "site wide" (it's in the top menu), you don't get the "features" as provided through the more complete functions.

As you probably know - the "Search" won't work until I "index" the database - which will happen when I finish the programming.....

Best to you, Ron!

Yea but..... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

One of the things that really bother me about this current site and others, are the limited search capabilities...

When I combine the old Forum and the posts from this Forum together - that's somewhere over 75,000+ posts - which is a lot of information. Without a terrific way of finding it, though - much of that information becomes lost - which is the real shame...???

Just my $0.0000001 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

OWLS??? LOL!! Let's see - 75,000 posts all delivered to 1750 or so users would be a fleet of.....

131,250,000 owls - give or take a few.... Hmmmm... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Actually - you can pull my leg - I'm pulling out my hair Looks like this will be a three stage upgrade, so the site may have to be off for longer then a few hours - probably 5 or 6 is my guess??

Who came up with this idea, anyway??!!

In any case I went over to the new forum and it looks great! The automatic photo upload from ones own hard drive is spectacular.

Hey Charles...!!!

Now - don't start calling me "Monty"

Thanks for the feedback - but I'm still wrestling some code changes - so the upgrade should happen shortly... I'm still having an issue with the "Private Messages" being brought into the new system (in other words - if you have 5 PM's in this Forum - they may not be brought into the new forum?). I'm working on that - but haven't got the right code yet..???

BUT - all the other features work - so, I'm tempted to "flip the switch" sooner, rather then later..... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Anyway - thanks again!!
