Default Hello and can you help identify the letter

Hello fellow forum members. After years and years of longing for WWII Luger, I was finally able to acquire one. I am picking it up in a few days, however the alpha character behind the number of the s/n I cannot identify and I was hoping you could help me. I couldn't match it to what is listed on this site. Is the letter and "X"? This is my first post and feel privileged to be apart of this forum and hope to learn more about war time Lugers. Thanks in advance in identifying this character.

Default more research

After researching the internet and this site, I believe this is a lower case "r". Hoping I can get a confirmation. Thanks for your time.

Default I will!

I will be glad to show the rest of the Luger after I pick it up next week. Florida has a three day waiting period after filling out the paperwork. Standby!

OK Woody and all, here it is! I took it apart and cleaned it up some and took pictures. All numbers match including the firing pin. A little surprise are the grips. Several older waffenamps also. One is marked S/42 and the other grip has, what appears to me a anchor. KM perhaps? Any and all informational comments greatly appreciated.

It has parts from a Simson Luger (the E/6 marked firing pin)

The small S/42 might indicate an armorer replacement grip.

We publish a reasonably useful reference document. Follow the FAQ link at the top of the page and download a copy. It's free. Marc

The "q" has no tail on the right side as my picture shows.
