Default Wood Base Mag Repair (G.T.)

Thank you G.T. for repairing this Navy mag. I wanted to show off your work and let people know that there is internal reinforcement in the mag base and I expect it to hold forever.

Merry Christmas,
Jack

Default last for a'while anyway!

Hi Jack, Thanks for the kind words! Your Navy bottom was difficult in that the break was right thru a number,, this makes it extremely hard to repair as it doesn't allow for any sanding, or even burnishing the break edges, as every thing you try, affects the final result... Some just line right back up..while with others, It is like trying to glue two ice cubes together... ... But, once back in shape, I embed two steel pins to bridge the break and make it stronger than original, at least, I've not had one fail yet.. This type of repair is not for the faint of heart, and if anyone wants to attempt it, I suggest you soak yourself in beer first... Doesn't help in the attempt, but you don't feel quite as bad when you screw up!.......Best to all, til...lat'r...GT.....

What Jack fails to mention is that saving this rare Navy mag was doubly important, it's original to his 1908 Navy. Bravo, G.T., an amazing job!
Regards, Norm
