Default Don Need Help

Don or anyone else who might know:

I have a police unit marked Luger mag. The unit mark is located on the spine of the mag and reads, S.Hn.205. I do not know the police district for Hn. so any help identifying it would be appreciated.

The base of the mag has a DE/154 and is marked #2. It is also marked near the top of the base above the serial number, S/42.

Thank you
Joe

Joe,

Is it possible that the Hn is actually An?

No it is clearly the letter H, followed by the lower case n. The marking is very clean into the soft metal

From Jan Still's forum and speaking for Don M;

quote from Don;
Quote:
The gripstrap mark is an early 1920s Schutzpolizei mark for Bereitschaft (Hundertschaft) 6 of a city represented by the Roman numeral II in the Prussian governmental district of Hannover. The abbreviation for Hannover was later shortened to "H." There are several of these guns with "Hn." on the gripstrap and "H." on the spine of matching magazines.
So yours is Schutzpolizei Hannover weapon #205

Your magazine is a police magazine, but a replacement (hence the S/42).

Thank you for the information on my Hn police unit mark. The letters make scense when associated with Hannover.

Joe,

I've been offline for a while but I think your mag is a combination of an older tube with a replacement base. I don't think the Hn. abbreviation was used much later than April 1922 when the Ministry of Interior issued marking instructions and specified the abbreviation as H. Is there any evidence that the base has been replaced?
