LPo8 questions

I looked at an artillery model which I might buy. As a Luger novice I would appreciate some input. Holster is made of a pebble grain material, dark tan and has no markings. Maybe Pigskin? correct for LPo8? 2 magazines, wood bottoms. One marked "Germany". Not correct, usually commercial use. The other stamped to the SN# with very large numbers.
easy to forge. What should stamp look like? Last, a board stock numbered to the LPo8. Has the stock hardware been reproduced and #'d.? Thanks for your usual generous help.

You will have to post photographs, good ones, to get answers to your questions... because the answers to most of them, without seeing the gun is MAYBE.

melh, as John states, photos will help. Some quick easy info though might help. There were pebble grain holsters made for the LP08 but all original holsters will be maker marked AND dated. Some fakes are also maker marked. The serial number applied to the magazine of an Imperial military Luger would be the exact same font and size as that found on the front of the frame beneath the barrel. This number will always include the letter suffix if there is one.

Reproduction stocks and stock irons are plenty. With the iron the same rule applies as with the magazine..."EXACTLY the same size and font". Only exception is that some 1914 dated Erfurts will not have suffix included on stock iron. An original artillery stocks will ALWAYS be made of european walnut and will ALWAYS have an Imperial army acceptance stamp cartouched into the flat of the wood just beneath the four upper strap slots.

I realise photos are necessary, but I do not have access currently. I hope to look at it next month using the benchmarks provided by your posts. THanks for sharing your usual money saving knowledge.
