so I swore off buying guns this year......
last year, I decided I've got enough toys and decided not to buy any more guns unless it was a good deal. well january comes and I find a 16" winchester saddle ring carbine model 1894 in 30wcf.. ($100 ) + about $200 in parts
now here we are June 1 stop at the swap meet and buy a colt m1917 .45da in pieces. ( $101) just ordered $100 worth of springs and screws. it cycles fine but the springs are weak. reminton 510P ($20) + $23 for a replacement trigger guard andscrews 1890 winchester .22wrf octoganal barrel made in 1909. ($220) + $98 replacement parts, magazine tube and extractor. colt new army/navy in 38lc ($150) + 20 for 2 new springs. .38sw hopkins and allen revolver, just need ammo $10! vetterli m1870/87/15 $100 just need ammo ruger GP100 $80. Needed $199 in parts. stainless even. So really 5 months and 8 guns. really didnt need any of them, just thought the price was right so I bought them. Maybe I'll have a antique gun sale in the near future. jim |

I’m in the same boat so far. Told myself I’d cool it down, but prices are so good that I’ve bought 4 so far. 2 more just today, although one will be a Father’s Day gift if that matters at all.

Well consider that at least you didn't spend a fortune.

got my m1917 parts in Friday, new springs and reproduction grips. Parts installed locks up tight. Theres what looks like a coat of paint or something in the chambers so the bullet wont go all the way in. scrapes off easy enough. jim

Well, I have to admit that I am following the same path that many of you are describing. A trip to the local gunshop resulted in a 1913 Erfurt Luger following me home. The recent CMP offering of M1911a1 surplus pistols netted me a nice 1944 Colt/Ithaca. A stop at a gunshop while on vacation with my bride resulted in a Winchester 1895 carbine becoming a member of my ever growing family. This is all becoming expensive.

Don’t think of them as expenses, think of them as investments for your kids, grandkids, and their grandkids so long as they’re properly cared for.

I told myself and my FFl guy, I'm not buying any more guns!
That was 10 guns ago! Including my first Luger, and a second Luger a fine shooter from DV and a 6 nine shooter blued Python to name a few of the last 10 guns I swore off buying! I have not however purchased an available used: https://www.e-sarcoinc.com/barrett-m...2a1-rifle.aspx which I really don't need! |

I didn't actually "buy" my last gun (Tisas BR9SS). but took it on trade in a motorcycle sale. Does that count?
