Post New Forum Suggested

Gentlemen, I would like to propose a new forum category that I believe would be of service to us all. I propose it be named "AUCTIONS".

The topics of discussion, of course, would be the various auctions that are on-going or that have been completed.

But, most important I think, it would allow members who plan to bid on a specific item to make their intentions known to all. It would also permit those who are members but do not have a readily recognizable "nome de plume" to state for the record that they will be bidding. Additionally, it would permit members with interest in the same item to work it out privately because they'll know who is bidding or intends to bid.

Whadda ya think?

Dunno Doubs, I think that is about like saying' hey guys, I found a real gold mine, want a map to it'? If I am going to bid on something, the fewer that know about it, the better as there are a whole lot of people on this forum with a lot more money to play than I.

Some lawyer out there may want to check this out. I believe what you are talking about is called "pooling" which I believe is illegal.

Have no fear... we won't be setting up such a forum... too many legal implications.

But thanks for suggestion anyway.

Doubs, it certainly sounds good to me. As a novice, I depend on my fellow members to advise me on what is worth considering and what costs are reasonable. My budget is very limited but I love to scope out the auctions. If I had a clue who was looking for what I would be very happy to send up a flag. Local newspapers, sales, gun shows, pawn shops all may have treasures few of which I can obtain. I would be very happy to check out items and send notes.

A separate forum for such discussions is unwarranted in my opinion and there are legal implications as mentioned above.

Conchojack, you are free to announce your interest in any item you find for auction or to ask opinions of others here in the General discussion forum, or if the auction is for an item that falls into one of the specific Luger discussion forum, you might be better served to ask your questions and post relevant photos there, but with an active membership of over 500, don't be surprised if you start a feeding frenzy on what you thought was an obscure auction find...

You will get much help here on the forum... and you don't need to reveal where the particular gun is being auctioned or sold to ask questions... just upload the photos that you have access to, and ask your questions...

You may get more HELP that you anticipated!

Red face

Well, it SEEMED like a good idea at the time! I obviously hadn't considered the legal implications and that single fact makes it a BAD idea. Thanks, guys, for the input.
