A little history on the center holster. I purchased the holster almost 40 years ago at a Hoopston, Illinois Gun Show for the grand total of $7. The holster is finished in a light Desert(sand) finish over Brown leather. Color shifted as Ted had to take Photos of Photos I sent to him. The finish is very supple similar to that of the finish on a women's fine dress shoe. Finish gives with pressure, shows wear marks on back where rubbed against hips and belt loops. Was either for possibly special police unit or finished for use by Police in Afika Corps, anyhow different and I don't believe faked because of price and when purchased. It would have taken a person quite a while to have professionaly done the refinish job.

Bob,

The finish on the holster appears like the finish I have on a German produced, Model 1922 Browning pistols holster that is Luftwaffe stamped and made by Kreighoff. The surface has a very shiney "hard" looking surface, but the material is leather. On the back of the 1922 holster are similar rub marks from being carried. You Luger holster is the first one I have seen with this type finish.
