guns america fraud?
I have a fn 1922 I am selling on Guns America.
I received a email from a buyer through the site that stated they would like to buy the gun. Along with the email I received this message from GA, FRAUD ALERT FRAUD ALERT FRAUD ALERT FRAUD ALERT FRAUD ALERT NOTE: THIS BUYER HAS INCLUDED COMMENTS MUCH LIKE THOSE OF INTERNATIONAL FRAUD. NEVER AGREE TO SHIP A GUN OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY AND NEVER ACCEPT A MONEY ORDER FOR MORE THAN THE GUN IS WORTH. ALL **NON-US POSTAL MONEY ORDERS SHOULD BE CLEARED FOR A WEEK BEFORE SHIPPING A GUN**. IT IS ALMOST 100% THAT THIS IS FRAUD. I did not see what was wrong with the buyers commentsl. but I do know of a scam where they send you a check for more than the amount of the gun, and then ask for money back, and the check is bad. The buyer did not want to loose the gun but did not want to pay the 4% paypal fee. So he asked if he could pay a deposit on paypal and send a money order for the balance. I had no problem with this but it made me think, what if some one sent a paypal deposit and then a bad check for the big$ and you send the gun. I will wait for the check to clear before sending the gun, but I just wonderd if any one has seen this as a new type of scam or if the GA system just picked up on some key words that were similar to a known scam. |

I think it's standard to get the message from GunBroker on all emails thru them. By including it in emails it probably reduces the liability to GunBroker. Brent B.

Ed,
As Brent stated. It is a standard boilerplate attachment. Just to keep you alert to the possibility of fraud. To urge caution when dealing with anyone. Ron
