Question A Simple Survey... ???

I would like to know how many members are logging into this message board using the NEW URL as opposed to how many are using the OFFICIAL URL of http://www.lugerforum.com

It is my feeling that everyone should be using the "official" gateway to the Luger Forum. There is a wealth of valuable information that many of us have worked very hard to compile and present. By bypassing this site and going directly to the message board you are missing out on what really makes The Luger Forum uniquely different from all other gun forums.

Let me know your access point. Many thanks.

I go through the Luger Forum site. That way I learn lots of new interesting things, like the fact that the old message board is no longer available. I sure hope that means that there is an alternate way to upload pictures to the Rennlist site so that there is a url to cut-and-paste.

Dok, I see the message board now points straight to here, cool. Like Dwight said, people were posting pictures from the old message area, and now they can't?

But, I happilly changed my browser to point back to the "ole" board and we are on track!

Hi Dok,

I have been using the new URL exclusively. I thought the old "official" URL was closed. I tried it and now I see it has all the old excellent resources on the left side bar. I will use http://www.lugerforum.com from now on.

Thanks,

Jimbo

Thumbs up

Hey Dok, I use the expressway to the forum because of two items, 1. I just about have the old site memorized by now, and 2. When I go through the old site the new board is see through a tiny window which is a little claustrophobic. I would HATE to loose all that good info on the old board. It took a long time and a lot of effort to compile.

Bookmarked the new address when the old forum ended, but I do check back on the old site just for the info there.

I use the offical address but I understand that some members using IE version 5 or 6 are having login difficulties from the old address but don't have those same problems logging in directly...

There is one user who can't get past the login screen from any URL... MikeP

I have tried and I can log in using his credentials from both the office and from home... I am still working with him to diagnose the problem.

I have to admit that I was using the new URL for awhile but when I wanted to check some of the classifieds I had to go back to the old sight and realized that I miss that site because that is the compilation of the knowledge shared over the years we have been together. I now use the www.lugerforum.com address and many times never make it all the way to the discussion board. They really need to be viewed as an integrated site or we end up a mile wide and an inch deep. Don't get me wrong, discussion is cool but a lot of what we discuss doesn't seem to get past the 'fat chewin' stage and into the archives like it used to. This could be total perception on my part but it seems to me that Dok was always porting good stuff that had been posted over the archival section. Does it seem like that is still the case or is there not as much historical/technical stuff being posted? I may not know what I am talking about since I have been in too many business meetings lately (which causes some rare form of dementia). Help me out and while you are at it....

John S, There may be a cookie problem with MikeP if he cannot log in under any circumstances. He needs to go to Internet Options and delete all cookies that he has and then make sure his security settings are set on medium or low.

Dok,

I usually go directly to the new forum site because it gets me out of the lugerforum frameset, leaving more screen for viewing discussions.

Suggestion: how about a link on the banner of the discussion forum to the old site? KFS

A couple of years ago, whenever I found the Luger Forum discussion board, the URL that I was using was the Rennlist URL.
I was viewing the discussion board as many are now viewing this new discussion board, outside of the frames page.
I was reluctant to start viewing the board through the frames because I don't accept change easily. Eventually I saw the value of having the resources of the LugerForum frames links at my fingertips. I, now, would be very loathe to view the discussion board except through the LugerForum frames pages (because I don't accept change easily).
