1936 S/42 Value?

This pistol was brought back from Denmark during WWII. It has matching S/N and walnut grips. No plum, but some blue is worn off edges and the end of the bore. Bore is clean and rifling looks good.

The pistol is not mine; but the owner is elderly and doesn't have a PC. Just trying to help him out finding out what it's worth. He does not want it to go to his heirs; but prefers to sell it before he dies. I do have some interest in it.

Jerry, many of the small parts of this gun should be strawed and also many areas on gun will have the last two numbers of the serial number. Since matching numbers and correct finish have a lot to do with value a few pictures will be necessary before a value can be given. Curt

Not sure what a PC permit is, as you don't have a location.

Hi Jerry, and welcome to the forum.

To give a value estimate, it is necessary to at least see photos.

Take care as you disassemble the Luger to confirm that the parts are matching. Especially the left grip near the safety lever.

If there is a holster, don't store the Luger in it. It can damage finish.

Take pictures using a tripod in indirect (shaded) natural sunlight without flash. Us the self timer to eliminate camera shake and get pictures of all the external markings in closeup.

Alternatively, a forum member may live close enough to you to take a look at the pistol and give you an informed opinion.

OK, I'm a pretty experienced photographer, so that will be fairly easy, and coming soon. By PC I meant personal computer. All the visible parts have matching numbers.
