Klaus, if I understand you correctly, our difference may be simply in whether we choose to call these early state security forces (Prussian Sicherheitspolizei, Saxon Landessicherheitspolizei, Bavarian Polizeiwehr, etc.) "police." To my knowledge, they all were called "police" by the respective state governments and, at the insistence of the IMKK, they were merged with existing police to form Schutzpolizei units. Their weapons with 1920 property stamps continued to be used by the Schupo. In any event, they were not Reichswehr. The orders to stamp 1920 on their weapons were issued by the Interior Ministers of the respective states who were responsible for the police and not the Reichswehr.
