Pete thanks tons for your earlier help and especially for the Reno show info, I'd heard it mentioned but didn't have "hard info" before your helpful post here.
I'm coming back from a business trip August 9th, scooting the wife and 2 year old (but don't get the idea I'm young, LOL) out the next day to Maine for them to be with the in-laws untill I can join them a few weeks later, MAN that's a tough time for the Reno show, but I will try to make it! If I get enough done in July I can. Thanks again for your help, and re: your earlier question on the front sight on this artillery Luger, it's "drift adjustable", I honestly don't know that I've ever seen a fine tune front sight, I'd have to describe this as "the usual kind", bevel seated driftable. I'm looking foward to getting a better grasp on "all that is Luger", and in addition to catching up on the great past archive of posts, hopefully I can make many of the Reno shows as they come around. Thanks, Frank H. in L.A. |

Hi Frank,
Your 1917 looks like it has the fixed front sight. If it was the fine-tuned type, it would have the round screw with two turning holes on the right side...similar to the adjusting screw on your rear sight. The 1917's Artillery started out with both front/rear adjustable, then swiched to a fixed front/adjustable rear, and finally by 1918...both sights were fixed... p.s. We also use the Reno gun show for "show & tell". If you are driving up, be sure to bring this luger (and others you might have...) ![]() Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
