I live in the Weatherly/Jim Thorpe area and some of the mountains here do go almost straight up. However one must replace the brakes on their vehicles every year regardless of downshifting. Deer, turkey, fox, coyote, bear, etc. right in my backyard. Nothing behind my house except woods for six miles. But I am ready for Spring. I have to pay a guy 150.00 tomorrow to shovel my roof. I can't do it myself because I had my knee replaced a few weeks ago.

Default Global Warming In Action!

I wish I could get my roof shoveled. Lots of heavy ice up there, a good portion of which finds/runs its way into the house.

Here's what the temp looked like today at 7:30am...When I took the first shot, it was -2.7ºF...Then while I was taking this shot, the sun peeped over the horizon and it zoomed up to -2.5ºF...I took a third shot, all in the space of about 90 seconds, and it was up to -2.3ºF...

Now it's 8:30am and up to +4.9ºF...Heat wave!!!

Minus ten degrees for a start this AM in the Finger Lakes region, now sharing the toasty single digits Rich reports. some snow forecast for later today and tomorrow, but not more than an inch or so expected. I measured the accumulation on Saturday at 16", but this does not allow for compression and melting of the covering, so I expect a sum of daily totals to be more. It's the danged driveway that matters, though. Since I have a 4X4 Dakota, not a problem for me , but the ol'lady doesn't like the snow to tickle her muffler on the way out. Rain is forecast for later this week!

Anyway, here's a pic of the workshop. My space is the bay with the green doors, the rest is Durand's Forge.

Living in the foothills of the Rockies we get our share of snow, but there are consolations, spring is never far behind!

Wow!

"Global warming" in full effect in SoCal. "Down below" (all of SoCal except the mountains) was hitting 90F during the day. On "my mountain", we had balmy 76-78F. Just perfect! We should have few days with snow, right about now, but so far nothing.

Guys, I enjoy all of your pictures, etc. It was about 78 degrees and perfectly sunny today--not a cloud. I have many memories of slippy days up north. We have been here in FL for 19 years now and I still drive a 4WD Expedition. My emotional state (and memory) won't let me drive one of these high mpg tin cans running around these days. I don't know how they ever settled the north.

We average 11 inches of snow per year.

Last year we had 8.7 inches.

Temperature is usually in the mid 30s to low 40s during he day and high 20cs to low 30s at night.

This year -- we have had 44 inches of snow so far.

Most of the days the temperatures did not exceed 30 degrees during the day and went as low as -16 at night.

The next 4 - 5 days the temperatures are projected to be back to normal (for this time of the year) - namely high 40s, and and day the mid 50s.

And the snow will melt with the higher temperatures.

The snow has been hard on the animals also with the snow covering up their food. Sunday morning I had a visitor looking for food. He should have ran.

The timing is set wrong on the camera as it should be 10:23 AM. I keep meaning to change it but keep forgetting.
