The more we look at these guns, the less we know. I don't have bolt action rifles, they are fun, but the size is too big to store.

I agree 100% with you although the great majority of C-96 variations date from the very early years of production.
Then, most MAUSER production records were destroyed when French occupation forces had the brilliant idea of demolishing the Oberndorf factory after WW2, cancelling in a minute loads of datas precious for us collectors.
