Someone once told me that John Wayne said, "When you wear high heels, you gotta be tough!"

But even I don't (at least hitherto) wear heels - although Lebanese style dancing stereotypically requires them. I can't imagine a faster way for me to break an ankle then trying to totter about onstage in stilettos. But more to the original point, although I haven't yet ruled out the subject pistol, I'm eyeballing yet another - if the seller answers my questions the way I hope, I'll snag that one instead. The original is still a possibility, but is now more of a backup - if that. |

A professional belly dancer! I know there is a first time for everything, but in the history of Luger collecting this may be a singularity. Outside of the theater in general and terpsicore in particular how many other collective interest groups can claim…nay, dare I say boast of…a professional belly dancer as a member of their rank? Luger collecting casts a wide net and I am thankful for it.
P.S. Although not my area of interest (made after 1918 and all that), the rig looks pretty good to me, particularly if it can be obtained at or below the target values already stated.

When collectors say this gun being good, is it because the seller being a special man so there is some non-gun factor in the comments, or the gun being really very good?? Or, good really means its price being very good, or, did I miss something special on the rig....
I reviewed the pictures again.... say, I cannot see the safety lever clearly, let's assume it just covered by dark patina, not reblued. How about the right grip panels, and the number on the magazine?? |

Alvin:
I have no idea who the seller is so he may be a special man, or he may not. I'm certain that his mother thinks that he is. The gun is not perfect, I think that we can all agree on that. I am seeing an honest war gun, but not perfect, maybe with a re-stamped magazine, etc. I am not trying to critique it as a high end collector's piece. And at a price of more than $1650 it seems like no bargain anyway. dju |

i too think the mag has been renumbered. from the photo the area of the stamping looks flat. which happens when old number is sanded away and new numbers added. just my 2 pennies.

I am not wildly enthusiastic about the finish/bluing but it could be the photo's.

Hi Zorba, I have to agree with Jerry. Hopefully the gun is better than the photos. Also, the seller sounds like a bit of a huckster...

When it gets here, I'll setup my softbox and try to get some good pix of it. I'm lookin' forward to it - seemed to be priced fairly (to me) compared to a lot of others - including the first one in this thread. In any event, it'll be fun to see the more knowledgeable folk pick it apart - that's how to learn!
Now I'm just going through the FFL hassle - my first choice is out of storage space (!!) - so I'll go see the expensive, "big" LGS tomorrow. The good news is I already have a box and a half of ammo to try it out with. |

Zormpas, congratulations on a good looking Mauser Luger.
It is hard to judge the finish from the photographs due to the lighting. As you've surely read, many of us do not recommend shooting all matching original finish Lugers because of the potential for damaging an original numbered part. Your results may vary. I particularly like these Mauser made Lugers for their precision and tight fit. They display a mechanical "art" that couldn't be reproduced today for many times what they cost. From what I can see, it looks like you did well. Looking forward to your pictures. As you know, use natural shaded (soft) sunlight for illumination; a tripod and close focus mode on the camera. Marc

It's not the same Luger in your first post, isn't it? That one has been relisted a few times, and it's still listed on gunbroker.com. Or, is the "LGS" the seller and you visited his store?? I am confused.
