'www.landofborchardt.com' is a favorite source of this unique specimen and other early pieces.

That would be my bid.

The gunsmith number (256) 259-2693 that is listed in the Borchardt ad, appears to belong to Heather Rice, 218 Green St, Scottsboro, AL 35769-3224. I am contacting the seller to clear this matter.

Item is sold.

Did he end the auction early I thought it had a couple of days left?

Either someone offered more money and they ended it early or something fishy going on?

As that is not correct ending times for an auction (besides the lack of days) It would ahve a later time than the start, NOT an earlier time...

Ed
Start 7/19/2010 7:22:35 PM ET (This is a 7 day auction)
Ends On or After 7/23/2010 6:56:51 PM ET

Anybody want to bet this gun never changes hands?
It sound like the ol' "get a friend to bid it up until it's stratospheric and any legitimate buyers drop out. Then when you really want to sell it, the ad reads "last sold on Gunbroker for $XXXX"

The last Borchardt auction I followed (and bid on) went for ~$9000, IIRC...Alvin had a thread w/link to it...Can't find it now...

I dropped out at about $2700, IIRC...

I think the seller owes a percentage of the final sale price to Gunbroker. I beleive it is 3%. He can't just tell Gunbroker I ended the aution, and didn't sell it.
