I didn't know the "return" on investment was so low

I look at it this way. I've paid only about a a tenth of what I've already gotten back out of this site. I'm ahead of the game and have only just started coming here. The real benefits are yet to come.

I have to wonder how many of those "registered" users actually make use of this site. It seems that most of those who post on a regular basis are also patrons of one stripe or another. Do you know what the percentage of actual use is, patrons vs users? I assume that the cost of running this site is directly porportional to the number of posts, right?

Yep - in short - I kind'a agree...

For example, I just e-mailed Dwight about his 1915. The Forum gave me the knowledge to know what Dwight sees is what I'll see too. I had to sell one of my Colt NM to pay for it - but I know what I'll get back is a Luger that another Patron stands behind. I'm not sure what that's worth on Gunbroker (I'm LOL as a type that quip), but to me - it's worth a lot. In short, those that stand behind the Forum are it's "worth".

As for the cost of running the site..??

I dunno - each month, Jen and I pay the bills, as we own the servers, the circuits and the programs. I spend my own money for all these, as there are no Sponsors, no BANNER ads, nothing. Just Jen and I. We subsidize this site along with the 50+Patrons - along with with the P 38 Forum - each and every day. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It all runs on dedicated servers and circuits out of our house and "business". For that - both forums take about 132,000 hits a day with about 2,134 unique users. Each day. Every day.

Return on investment? I dunno. The "return on investment" is what folks learn and they add to their own "value" for their enthusiam in collecting.

As for me? I'm just like you. An enthusiast and collector. While I specialize in Krieghoffs - I've learned about all types of Lugers, and will continue to invest in this site until there is "no return".

But - that's just me...

And today - another new LugerForum Patron has joined our ranks - along with yet another person who has generously donated yet again....

Welcome Zinfull, and - my thanks again to tudorbug..!

I've read a thread elsewhere in this site about supporting this site. While I won't participate in that thread - except to thank Ed and share my thoughts that he is one of the mainstays of this Forum - it's folks like you and all the Patrons who have made the personal decision to support this forum that it even exists...

My thanks for that - and to all who are like minded....

Again, my sincerest and personal "Thank you" to all..!!!

And tonight...

This person is one of the cornerstones to the Lugerforum. I've chuckled at more then a few of his posts... I've learned about dogs, friends and some things I thought I'd never need to know - much less, ever actually attempt myself...

So, to our newest Lugerforum Patron Roadkill...

Simply...

Thank you...

Golly John. With the past three posts, it looks like you've been doing an awful lot of drinking!

You know I could probably do that...

In fact - I'd like to WELCOME our newest LugerForum Patrons! Well - OK, one new and one "three-peat".....

First - and as a fellow HK collector - my thanks Big Norm!!!

Second - my sincerest thanks to Herb. Herb and his wife arranged for Jen and I to stay "on base" several years ago at the first LugerForum Convention (and I've NEVER saluted so many folks at one time in all my life!). That trip, Herb and so many - made a lasting memory about what collecting is all about.. Herb - my thanks for you friendship throughout the years....

So thegundude - here are a couple more

My thanks to all......

It's been a loonnnggg week, as my Wednesdays are your Sundays and yesterday (your Tuesday - which is my Saturday) - I spent working off-site. (Ummm - on your Saturday/Sunday - I work 12 hours a day at another job - see?? )However, now that it's Sunday (well, for me ) I had some time to catch up on a few things, read some mail, open some wonderful notes from many of you.. My sincerest thanks!!!

As well - I'd like to welcome (and "re-welcome" some of you ) to being the most recent LugerForum Patrons!!

thegundude
Daniel
ken d
Fazer
Big Norm
grapppa

Also - Fazer, in his note asked me if "cash was OK". Seeing as how he's from "down under", I was a bit afraid I'd have to go to Australia to use it However - he actually sent me US$!!

Fazer - and to all...!

John D.
(Looking forward to going to the dentist this Sunday afternoon.. That would be my Sunday - not yours - which is Wednesday, unless you are on the other side of GMT, in whicg case my Sunday is your Thursday. Well, for part of your Thursday - unless it's Sunday morning, in which case it would still be your Wednesday, or perhaps Tuesday evening - depending.....

My thanks again...!

And again - my sincerest THANK YOU to the following LugerForum Patrons....

Morgan Kane and Rod WMG for your contributions, support and patience!!

(As well - I'm still working on the list from the Raffle, but it's taking me more time than I expected to make a few dozen Krieghoff Artillery Loogars )

And my sincerest thanks again!!
