Two points or clarifications: On closer inspection, my Anschutz with DWM toggle obviously has an Erfurt receiver (notched) and barrel (crown/RC), so the notching theory just being on Erfurts still hold. Also, My 1914 Erfurt definitely has a "q" suffix. Despite what is stated in Jan Still's Imperial Lugers. the lower number (?7000) were apparently made BEFORE the outbreak of hostilities Aug., 1914, with unrelieved sear bars and perhaps no stock lugs, but reverted to relieved sears and all stock lugs for the remainder of 1914, when many thousands were feverishly produced.
