Vern, thanks for the plug on my blueprint CD... I use small blueprint extracts such as you have used to help and educate members all the time...

One last picture request, could we have a picture of the front of the barrel, looking straight at the muzzle? It looks thicker than it should and I am curious if maybe it has been refaced as some do with target guns.

Apologies for the delay as I had to procure a digital caliper, which I'm sure will prove indespensible for these purposes.

I measured the distance from the bottom of the lug to the top of the receiver (24.6 mm in diagram) and read 24.66 on gun #628. The caliper also had a depth gauge on the end which I measured 2.3 mm on the height of the front of the lug. I compared with measuring a 1920 commercial with a stamp on lug and read 24.63 and 2.29 mm respectively. My tolerance with the caliper could be +/- .5 mm or so, but I'm fairly confident the lug on 628 has not been ground.

Here are the pictures requested of the front of the barrel. If you need one dead on straight let me know. I look forward to your comments as well as any others that care to chime in. Thanks again for your time.

Hi Clark

Well, everything looks great!
I was trying to eliminate the possibility that the upper did not belong with the gun and I think we have done that.

A good gunsmith can install a barrel without any signs but almost no one builds up the lug after removing a SN. So I think we are good.

I am afraid none of this answers your original questions.

You have an interesting gun, thanks for tolerating my digging around.

Oh, No!!!!

I just do details, the really knowledgeable collectors hang out here though. Hang around, read some, post some-> this is a pretty nice forum.
